Affiliate Marketing vs Multi Level Marketing

The other day I was working at home in front of my computer, writing some content for one of my blogs when the phone rang. I looked at the called ID and noticed that the phone number was from out of state. I had a good feeling that this was someone trying to sell me something. After all, since I have developed a lot of websites to offer affiliate products and to provide resources for people online, I get a lot of people trying to contact me in order to sell me something.

Any how, I answered the telephone and sure enough, it was someone telemarketing. This telemarketer began his presentation by rudely asking why I did not provide a telephone number and an email for people to contact me. I told him that I did not include that information to avoid getting emails from spammers and phone calls from telemarketers.

According to this multi-level marketer, he figured that since I write content of affiliate marketing, that I would be interested on his business opportunity. I told him that I did not do multi-level marketing and that if that was what he was offering, that he would be wasting his time.

You see, the reason why I prefer affiliate marketing to multi-level marketing is the fact that as an affiliate marketer I do not have to buy a kit with products to use as demonstrators, I don't have to keep an inventory, and if I do not want to recruit people to sell under me, no one is going to harass me about.

With multi-level marketing however, one always has to invest on a sales or presentation kit of some sort, one always has to maintain some sort of inventory or else he/she will not get bonuses, and worse of all, recruiting people for ones downline is paramount to making it on the multi-level marketing business model.

So when I expressed my dislike and lack of interest on multi-level marketing to this annoying telemarketer, he was understandably upset since his chance for recruiting me vanished right in front of his eyes.

This poor multi-level marketer did not stand a chance getting me to try his pipe dream. After all, I tried just about every pipe dream there is. I could probably fill up your closet with multi-level demo kits and paraphernalia. I once was like him, trying to convince people that they could get rich also, if only the recruited more people to go under them.

Interesting that multi-level marketing is always about the recruiting other people and never about the over priced product that they are trying to sell. Not once was I instructed on the benefits of the product that I was supposed to be selling, but I was always asked for my relatives name and number, so that my up-line could recruit them for me. The pressure to recruit was so much, that I would go out and harass people in an attempt to get them to become pipe dreamers like me.

However, I do not recall ever recruiting any one, and my up-line, who was supposed to be the expert never succeed either. Most people know that multi-level marketing is a broken down business model that benefits only the creators of the program and maybe the first level of recruits.

I thank God that I found affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing I do not have to spend money buying kits with over priced useless products. I do not have to keep inventory in order to achieve impossible bonuses, and best of all I do not have to push pipe dreams on people, nor do I have to sell to people in my family or friends.

All I have to do with affiliate marketing is place advertisements with Google or with other advertisement providers. I develop some sites and provide interesting and relevant content for people to read. If I want, I send emails with my offers to targeted email list, and after the sales are made, I get compensated for my effort.

I tell you there is no better business opportunity than affiliate marketing out there. If you do your homework and dedicate time to developing your affiliate marketing business you could make a lot of money with it. You can spend a little money advertising, or you can use free advertising venues, the choice is yours. If you are looking for an online business opportunity I strongly advise you to look into affiliate marketing. You will be glad you did.
