I have seen many online business opportunities advertised online. In fact I have participated in many online business offerings over the years. One such online opportunity, I recall, had to do with purchasing a turn key website business.

The websites that were available range from dating sites to online directories. The choices were many, and I imagine there are still many turn key online business opportunities still available out i the net.

However, after getting involved with the online business, I soon found out that it was not as easy as they sold it to me, and that I did not make all the profits they told me I would.

So investing in a site to promote one product, my own, in an industry that was very competitive to begin with was not a good idea. I did not have enough name recognition, enough money to advertise, and I had relatively no control over the site. Not only that, God only knows how many other sites they had that were doing the same thing I was doing.

I think that in looking at it from my current vantage point, I can see why this turnkey business opportunity was doomed for failure from the get go. I should have gotten involved with affiliate marketing instead. It would have been much more easier on my pocket book and sanity.

You see, affiliate marketing is the type of online business that one can start from home, and it normally does not require an investment. Most affiliate marketing programs are set up so that affiliates have a web site link that they can use to promote whatever product they happen to be marketing.

So their is no need to invest money in a website off the bat, and their is no need to purchase inventory. In other words, all that the affiliate marketer has to worry about is about making sure that people click on the link leading to the site, and then once the client makes a purchase, the affiliate will earn a commission.

For that reason affiliate marketing is one of the easiest types of online business that one can get involved with. It is very cost effective, very time flexible and it is very profitable.
